Powering the Digital Manufacturing Revolution: CNC Routers, 3D Printers, & CNC Control Systems
What is Digital Manufacturing?
Digital manufacturing is the use of an integrated, computer-based system comprised of simulation, three-dimensional (3D) visualization, analytics and various collaboration tools to create product and manufacturing process definitions simultaneously.
3D Printer vs CNC Router
A 3d printer uses an additive process to build up layers of plastic to create an object, A CNC router uses a rotary cutting tool to carve away at a block of material - a subtractive process. 3D printing is great for small objects, but the plastic filament is expensive and the finish is rippled. CNC routing is far better at larger objects, and the quality of the finished part is much more precise.
The V90 and X90 are machine kits. You will have to assemble them and adjust them to gain the precision that you need. They work well for woods and plastics.
The Comet, Asteroid, & Meteor are fully assembled and tested units. They ship by freight carrier and are ready to make parts right out of the crate. The fully supported rails and aluminum & steel construction make them far more capable machines for light industrial applications.
