Re: Upgrade to a Spindle?
Maybe a question for the Probotix folks? I have an Asteroid machine from I think 2014 time period. If I wanted to upgrade to a spindle setup is it as simple as buying a spindle and you are off and running? Or does anything have to be done to the Unity? Thanks.

Upgrade to a Spindle?
Just curious if anyone has converted a router system to a spindle? Are there any gotchas to look out for? Is it a seamless transition?

Re: rail scratches and linear bearings
All, It looks like I have a similar issue. I have a small scratch around the midpoint of the x-axis rail. Then a slight wear mark on that same plane stretching all across the rail. I'm kind of surprised, I'm not a heavy user of this machine (Asteroid), it get's used maybe once a month if that. I can...

Re: Jog pendant? Purpose?
Thanks for the clarification, I saw it on the website, but really didn't know what advantage it may have vs just the keyboard. One thing I really don't like about the CNC Linux software is that, provided you don't have the touch off sensor which automates the z-axis touch off, there is no keyboard b...

Jog pendant? Purpose?
It may be obvious to some but not to me. What is it? What can you do with it? Why is it better or different than just a keyboard?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Alignment issue observed when cutting spoil board
If you see the attached picture it shows that there seems to be some misalignment of the z-axis to the cutting surface. spoil board.jpg I noticed this when surfacing a piece of plywood for use as a spoil board. In the picture the plywood highlights the problem. Essentially there are small ridges for...

Re: Hello - new to CNC
I put a word out to the guys in the shop so as soon as we get the original back panel back we will diagnose it and post back here as to what actually happened. Lance, Please be on the lookout for this. I put it in the mail on Saturday so I would think it would arrive there this week. I addressed it...

Re: Hello - new to CNC
Glad you got it figured out. What exactly are you calling the 'back panel'? Dave It's basically the panel on the back of the Unity where everything plugs in. The round stepper motor connectors, the power connectors, the parallel connector, usb etc., etc. Realistically the problem was probably isola...

Good News!
Receive the replacement back panel from Probotix last week, installed it this morning and whalla, I now can turn on my router with the software. Nice to have that fixed!
