Re: Jog pendant? Purpose?

END on the keyboard followed with ENTER will effectively touch off (zero) the active axis (last direction you jogged or hit on the keyboard (x,y,z)). You can also switch quickly between Continuous and the last Increment jog step you've chosen by hitting C and I respectively. A list of all the keyboa...

Re: Alignment issue observed when cutting spoil board

Old post, but I'll chip in anyway. We have a Meteor where I work that produced similar lines when milling off the spoilboard with a 1" end mill. A quick check of the Z axis against the perimeter frame showed Z was tipped back about 2 degrees. To fix this we took out the front bolts holding the ...

Re: Jog pendant? Purpose?

Using one vs using the keyboard is just a matter of personal preference. These CNCs used to come with a game controller for jogging the spindle around, but using that was IMO slower and less precise than using the keyboard. I don't have a jog pendant, but have even looked into using just a wireless ...

Re: LinuxCNC homing grief

I replaced the Z axis switch and all is well again. I believe the old switch had fatigued and wouldn't spring back quick enough again after being hit once during the homing step.

So our Nebula is back in service, at least until the next time a limit switch fails to do its work.

LinuxCNC homing grief

Today I can't get our Nebula to home. The first time when Home Machine was clicked on the z axis moved up, came to a stop and generated this error message: "Can't unhome while moving, Z-axis". Clearing that error, then reconnecting to the controller the Z-axis moves down rather than up whe...

Re: Computer locking up/crashing on my Asteroid

Sounds like you found an EM interference frequency (#4 on your router) that confuses the PC. Any chance you have a WiFi or Bluetooth dongle plugged into the PC , or even wireless mouse or keyboard? I know my old microwave will generate WiFi interference in my house when it runs. I've never had my CN...

Re: Am i Racked or Frame out of square

It is more likely that the plastic drive nut(s) have stripped. See if you can manually push the gantry forward and back on either side. If so then you need a new anti-backlash drive nut or two. http://www.probotix.com/CNC-CONTROL-SYSTEMS/MECHANICAL-COMPONENTS You might also check that the Y axis lim...

Re: Rosettes

When you get done with the t-rex, there is always the u-rex, v-rex, and w-rex you can make. The delightful part of being able to make dinosaurs on your CNC is that you aren't limited to making versions of just those know beasts. Invent your own. ;) Name them after your grandsons.

Re: Rosettes

Looks great! Now the question is.... for the time spent drawing it up, and the time spent cutting them out on the CNC, are you still under the cost of a rosette cutter? ;)
