Re: New To CNC , Sydney Australia

Vectric has tutorial videos on their web site you can watch for free. I highly recommend you watch them all, and work alongside in another window (or screen) on your PC. http://support.vectric.com/training-material Probotix posted a video on using LinuxCNC with their CNCs. https://vimeo.com/12121291...

Re: New To CNC , Sydney Australia

Welcome, Nikonwalker. Linux is pretty similar to windows. LinuxCNC uses a few terms that may be foreign to you but aren't hard to grasp the meaning of. The basics include: Be sure your e-stop switch is not engaged. Sometimes it comes that way. Twist clockwise and it should pop out. Once you have Lin...

Re: New configuration and zpuck

I agree, Glenn. Many thanks to whomever wrote the new configurator. Many more thanks for the wiki pages and all the information posted there. A treasure trove of valuable information useful to far more than just those with Probotix CNCs.

Re: Some Halloween Fun

Many years ago I had the idea that a great halloween scary setup next to the front door would be a sign that said "Rest in Pieces", and around it were a few random bloody bones sticking out of the ground. Today I would add a motion sensor and a few tricks to wiggle a bone or two when anyon...

Re: Touch Probe

I have a ruby tipped probe that I bought as an accessory for my old CNC Shark. Their controller software has a routine for using the probe that will make 3D models of the shape you probe. I never used it much. I did recently add a touch plate to my Meteor, and spent some time reverse engineering the...

Re: edit tool table

But what is the FMS setting, and do I need it if I'm running in Manual? Ken It looks like you are talking about features/options in some software I'm not familiar with. I use Aspire from vectric.com for both drawing up (CAD) and then creating toolpaths (CAM) for my CNC projects. There are no LEN or...

Re: Chess Set - well almost!

Nicely done! Thanks for posting photos. My local woodworkers group puts on a club show 3 or 4 times a year and I always walk through to take a gander and complement the makers. Many do scroll saw work and every time I see their work I think to myself "if they only knew what I can do using my CN...

Re: edit tool table

Any chance you've got the ATLas Tool length sensor on your CNC? I'm not familiar with solidworks or hsmworks, but LinuxCNC keeps a table of where the bottom of each bit is relative to where you've set Z=0, and that table is built when it encounters a new tool number in your toolpath file. You don't ...

Re: Transporting Tips?

Switch removal must be a more recent shipping strategy. All three of the Probotix CNCs I've received had those switches pre-installed.
