Re: Tool Table HELP

Once again, in my cam software, you set up your tool database with all tool specs and feeds and speeds and when you generate the toolpath, it takes everything into account automatically.
You may have to set it up manually if your cam software doesn't. I have no experience with either of them.

Re: Tool Table HELP

The tool table is populated when you touch off your tools, from my understanding. My cam software (Vectric), sets the tool numbers based on my tool database. Unless you are running a toolpath with multiple tool changes, or using a automatic tool changer, the tool number is irrelevant. Glad you found...

Re: Tool Table HELP

I don't use the tool table, so don't know if this is relative or not.

Re: New at this

Glad to hear you figured it out. I put double pole safety switches on the machines I over see. Also configured a At speed contact in the vfd, so the z axis would not move unless the spindle was running at speed. Too many times of people forgetting to turn the vfd on and jamming the tool into the par...

Re: New at this

Hi Ken, I had posted a fairly long reply earlier (by phone), but evidently it didn't post. 4D's advice to call Len is best, but here is my two cents. The way Probotix has their machines set up, the vfd is always powered and in the run state. It only needs a speed reference signal to run. The spindle...

Re: 12 volt power

Not aware of any 12V sources in the Probotix controllers.

Re: New at this

Spindle is a LOT quieter and has a lot more power. With the vfd, the spindle will maintain the power and speed as the load increases, most routers will not do that. You can also slow the spindle rpm's down to around 8000 rpm for specific operations. Doing work with plastics, this could be advantageo...

Re: New at this

Sounds interesting. Look forward to seeing some pics of some of your work.

Did you get a spindle with the Asteroid? IMO, it's the only way to go.
