Re: X90 information?

The XY drifting issues are usually software related, and the reason why we don't sell the PBX-USB any longer. We designed the PBX-USB from schematics provided by Andrej to support his software. Andrej kept introducing new features into the software that was causing problems and it became a support n...

Re: Z-Puck mishap

The G38.2 probing routine is built into LinuxCNC and there is only one probe input signal available to that routine, so we had to link the two together. Call it the cost of convenience.

Re: Holding down Plastic Sheet

I got banned from the CNC Router Tips Facebook group. Keep in mind that I never once tried to sell or promote any of our products or services, not once. Instead I was out there simply helping people. When I reached out to Bill Griggs to ask why he banned me, he wouldn't message me about it but inste...

Re: Holding down Plastic Sheet

Someone told me a few weeks ago about super gluing blue painters tape back to back to make double-sided painters tape. I told that to another guy, who then called me the other day to thank me for the tip. Said he couldn't believe how well it held, and because the blue painters tape comes off so easi...

Re: Tool touch off sensor

One more thing... the only reason why we have to "load first tool" BEFORE doing a touch off is that we have to have the initial G43 offset loaded so that LinuxCNC has some value other than zero to calculate the touch-off from. Sure, you could figure out a way to measure the actual distance...

Re: Tool touch off sensor

But the o100 subroutine turns G43 back on, which is also the same routine that runs when you hit "load first tool". Technically, you could touch off with a tool that was already loaded and G43 turned on, but unless you know exactly what you're doing, you are asking for trouble. I always te...

Re: Tool touch off sensor

Well, actually as a matter of best practice, you header of every file should explicitly cancel any modes which would cause a problem for that particular file.

Re: Tool touch off sensor

Yes, you must cancel G43 with G49, otherwise the touch-off will be offset.

Re: Tool touch off sensor

Keep in mind that loading a file does nothing other than draw a 3D preview. None of the code in the g-code actually runs until you hit play. Then it runs one line at a time. Running a g-code program is exactly the same as typing each line of that file into the MDI input box one line at a time.
