My other tools

Postby tcreed » Sun Oct 25, 2015 11:19 am

I've got a Sherline 2000 CNC minimill running Flashcut, a Shoreline 17" CNC ready lathe and a Shoptask 3 in 1 machine that I am planning on upgrading to CNC. But I use my Meteor for most of the projects I make.

I started with a CNC Shark Pro, one of their earlier models that came with a separate power supply, separate controller, and an MDF top with t-slots milled into it. My Meteor came next, then I made my own small CNC using parts salvaged from several old printers I was throwing away. I also have an XCarve 500mm version kit that I'm working on inverting to make a smart router table.

The rest of my shop has slowly been getting updated, mainly with tools that include a digital gauge to match the precision of my CNC work. Table saw, Drum Sander, and my old Hitachi Jointer/Planer all have digital gauges.

I just upgraded my Meteor with a VFD spindle and the new Unity Controller and a vacuum dust system. Sure happy with the decision.

Hello can anyone tell if i got a good deal on the lathe i recently purchased? it is a Bolton tools CQ9332A lathe with all the tooling including an upgraded quick change tool post.I recently purchased the from a race car building shop that was closing. They mostly used it for making small plastic an aluminum parts. I paid 1750 for it. Is this a good deal? thanks

@beouwolfboy:

They're $1,949.00 brand new from the manufacturer. Shipping is about $300. The quick change post is $99 new from the manufacturer. You saved about $600 off a new rig. Not a super good deal, but good enough depending on how much it's been used.
