Probotix Yellow Stepper Motor Wiring for Bi-Polar

Postby jdkerr » Mon Oct 12, 2015 7:12 pm

Reading through various technical notes on the Probotix site on the wiring of the Yellow Steppers.

I have found two differing wire setups:

Setup One

Code: Select all

    Red / Blue - B-
Black / Yellow - B+

 Brown / White - A-
Orange / Green - A+

Setup Two

Code: Select all

    Red / Blue - A+
Black / Yellow - A-

 Brown / White - B+
Orange / Green - B-

The difference seems to be that one way indicates the phases are difference (A vs B) and also the A+/A- and B+/B- are totally inverse.

Will wiring the phases A/B inverted make a difference and will inverting the A+/A- and B+/B- have an impact?

Is there anyone from Probotix that can confirm the correct pinouts on their Yellow stepper motors?

Thanks.

The X3_ conversion diagram indicates your setup 2 is correct.

I realizes this is a bit late but if you were wired incorrectly you would know it by now ;)

For others here is a diagram with wire colors and motor phase keys so you know exactly how to wire for Unipolar or Bipolar - as we do have a few people doing conversions to new drivers: http://www.probotix.com/wiki/images/f/f1/8wire_to_4wire_bipolar.pdf

**image shows 8 wire motors**

Thanks!!

Be advised those who are replacing ProboStep drivers.

If you have the small enclosure you can barely "shoehorn" in ONE Mondostep 4.3 driver. Not two.
