Keep getting errors that Z axis is exceeded when I try to run the program and the touch off does not put the material where it is really at.

Using EMC2 as Post PP

Anybody?

I am pretty much a newbie so I am not sure if this is totally correct or not and I am using just Vcarve 8 But I have been using LinuxCNC Arcs(inch) as my post processor.

And when ever I get that z error it is because I have the Z set higher in Vcarve then the available Z space on the on the cnc after touching off the Z.

The Z setting is in materiel setup home/start position. Just set that lower then what is available in linuxCNC after you zero Z

Hopefully this helps

I think Matt nailed the problem. I usually get the "Exceeds Z" error when I program a thick piece of stock for 3-D work.
When a program runs, the first move is to the programmed home location which is normally (0,0,0.8) in my software.
I reset the z value in my Vectric software to 0.2 and usually the error goes away.
It is what it is!
Have a great day.
