double sided tape

Postby dsotmoon » Sat Dec 12, 2015 8:34 pm

What is everyone using? I bought some from a local hardware store, and although it worked great on my first run today, i think it actually worked too good, it was very hard to get off the table grid, unfortunately I threw away the package before i paid attention to the part numbers but I think it was a 3M product that said "permanent", maybe this is too much?

what brands, vendors, are you using?

thanks

I actually had some of the squares break off the Grid using double sided tape. So be careful.
I've seen badgers with paws the size of frying pans, that would rip your face right off!

thanks, i plan to add a 1/2" MDF sacrificial spoilboard on top of the table grid so I don't ruin it, just had no idea that the tape i had was that strong until i tried it!

I use IPG tape and it works very well for cutting thinner materials like the 1/8" G10 and PCB's. For deep, fast cuts in thick wood I still use hold down clamps and thru cuts are held in place with tabs.

I am using this from Findtape. I have been cutting some 1.5mm G10 without issue sticking it down to MDF Spoilboard. Tape removes with virtually no residue left.

since starting this thread I have used the 3M double sided 2# and 9# tape, both work great, but i am actually using this 2# tape from harbor freight more now just because it's only 1.99 a roll and usually cheaper since i get so many coupons from them. it does not come off as easy as the 3M does but for the price its worth it to be for a couple of minutes of extra work...
