Yes I would say your thinking is correct. If you are not running a toolpath with multiple tool changes, there probably is no real advantage to the tool sensor, but is very nice to have when doing so.

Hello,

Thanks for the confirmation on my thought process. I'm used to having to touch off with every tool change on my manual mill so not having the tool length sensor won't be a huge inconvenience to me. Maybe something I could look at down the road.

Kyle,

Something to think about if you are thinking of adding later. Your computer will need a 2nd parallel port to use the tool length sensor. I am not sure if Probotix would include that if you are not buying the tool length sensor during the initial purchase. There is also a configuration change required. If you have any idea that you may want this...I would get it initially.

That's good information to know. Thanks for mentioning that.

They are currently an option that can be added when buying a new machine and I believe Len is working on adding it as a stand alone to the website. Hopefully you will see it in the accessories section soon!

Kyle,

Beltramidave is explaining it perfectly, you are on the right track. Feel free to call us we now offer the puck with the machines and I will be loading it up on the site as an aftermarket product once the configs and documents are finished.

Thanks!!
