Project Pricing?

Postby BrerFox » Mon Jan 18, 2016 8:56 am

I do a lot of 2d signs and plaques.
I am wondering how you all that do similar projects, price your work when selling.

I'm also wondering about what folks charge. Do you go by the machined inch, by the hour, or by the job?
I've been approached by a guy that wants some cabinet doors shaped on the edges, that's it. How do you all charge?
Thanks in advance.

I have heard of different approaches when pricing. Some price by size, others by complexity of design and detail. Then some people charge differently if it has to be painted or just finished. If painting is required, then is it black only or does it involve several colors. Wood species comes into play also, or other materials also determine pricing. Machine time is another thing to consider. I have also noticed that local economy plays a big role in pricing. There are many factors involved.
