Awesome set of pictures and examples showing different ways to make joints with the CNC.

I've never seen a collection of examples like this. They look cool and function at the same time.

I have the Comet 3x4 foot version and I'm loving all you can do with it.

Thanks SolarDude.
I love my Comets and doing things that are different from what I normally see.
And, I enjoy solving problems and sharing.
It is what it is!
Have a great day.

Nice work! I also have my Meteor opened up for vertical/angled cutting and after doing that can handle just about any "impossible" joinery or detail cut. The only limit is usually the length of bits at the diameter needed. The finer the detail you want to make, the shorter the bits are.

I see you have a 45 degree side to your vertical rig. I'll challenge you to figure out half blind mitered dovetails on the corners of a rectangular box. Once you have that mastered then you can move up to 5, 6, and 7 sided boxes with joints done on the CNC.

I oversee three CNCs used in our furniture design shop at K-State. Our Nebula and Meteor both have internal rails and can open up for vertical/angled cutting. The opening also permits cutting/carving on already assembled parts, so long as they can be clamped securely down under the CNC.

I'll bring home my sample box and take a few photos of the more challenging cuts this weekend. Thanks again for starting this thread!

Here are a few of the samples I've cut to demonstrate the potential the CNC is capable of. Some I've made to solve a student project joinery dilemma. Some I've made on the CNC after a student saw a photo on the web and challenged me to cut them on the CNC. Some I've made just to try out a gadget, or impress a colleague. If anyone is interested and this forum supports it I'll be happy to upload the .CRV or .CRV3D file used.
