Mailbox Address Label

Postby HANNAH024 » Fri Dec 28, 2018 7:31 pm

Santa gave me a new mailbox for Christmas and forgot that our postal service requires the address to be visible on the box. So I thought this would be a good place to use one of the plastic cutting boards that I had found on sale. The board was a little thicker than I would have liked but since I already had the material, I used it. Here is a picture of board after my comet finished cutting on it.

Looks like a great use for cutting board blanks to me. I'll be curious to know how well they look after a few years outside. You might look into the temperature expansion/compression values of what is likely HDPE relative to the same values for the metal mailbox.

Just thinking of the future.... 4D

4D The label says polypropylene and says it is dishwasher safe. I'm wondering what the summer sun will do to it. I have made several outdoor signs using HDPE and one of them is on a post in the driveway across the highway from me and it still looks just like it did when I put it up about 5 years ago. Paint would not stick to the HDPE so I had to use a permanent marker to darken the letters and the letters have to be recolored every couple of years, but the sign itself still looks OK.
