Finish Suggestions

Postby politicaldog » Mon Dec 12, 2016 1:52 pm

One of my gifts for my daughter. V Carve Script is just not looking to standout like I wanted it to.
I wanted to finish this cross with an oil to bring out the walnut beauty but still make the writing pop.

ANY HELP???? :?:

I use Wood Sheen to bring out the details of my signs.
It is a Rubbing stain/sealer.
I flood the surface being sure to fill the depressions and then
wipe off the surface leaving the carved details full of wood sheen.
After allowing enough time for the wood sheen to soak in and darken the carved areas,
I rub the surface with a soft cloth being careful not to wipe the wood sheen from the carved areas.
Then when everything has dried (usually the next day),
I spray a clear sealer and finish coat on the entire surfaces.

Thanks for the tips guys! I used a Black Paint Pen to highlight in the carve work. Once I re sand I may try Wood Sheen. I may need to check the ingredients. I was wondering if there is a chance that the paint would get damaged by whatever I finish the cross with? Thoughts???

I did a 3D Book for another daughter and plan to do the same with it.
