Rotary axis stepper motor

Postby Rick_knecht » Fri Dec 28, 2018 1:58 pm

I have a 2018 model Asteroid. It is running LinusCNC. I recently acquired a 3rd party rotary axis kit. The stepper motor is a Chinese Sihong model 57BYGH276-3004A-6.35. My problem is the stepper motor is 4 wire and the Probotix controller only has 5 wire ports. Is there a way for me to use this rotary axis with this controller? If not how can I identify exactly which motor I could buy to run on this setup. I spent a few hours on the internet trying to decipher stepper motor part numbers and it is all pretty Greek to me. Best I can tell is that the 57BYGH means it is NEMA23 compatible, The 76 is length in mm. All else means nothing to me. Help? I am willing to buy another motor but do not know what to buy that will fit my chuck setup and be compatible with my controller.
