Table?

Postby artman60 » Tue Dec 22, 2015 6:36 pm

Hi, I am hoping to be buying a CNC machine in early Feb 2016. All of my CNC knowledge is solely from reading the various forums. My questions is, what do you typically mount/install/place your machine on? Do you just build a bench and leave it stationary? Do you build a custom table and put casters on it for mobility? I know some of the companies sell specific tables for specific models, I didn't see any of those here. Thanks, Artie

Four 4x4 posts, 4 10" wide plywood stretcher to run between them. I made a 1/2" x 1/2" notch in the tops of my post to set the end plates on and added caster to the bottom of the posts. A shelf half way across the stretchers must help stiffen it all but mostly makes a good place to set a 3-drawer tool chest.

right now I have it on a temporary table I created with my rolling router/planer stand, the machine got here faster than I thought it would so I had to come up with something, it's level and stable due to some bracing but I will build a permanent table in the next few months, since it will be mostly a custom size I think I am going to get this workbench kit from rockler or something similar to make it a little easier...

My only reservation about the legs you linked to is that they are made of resin. In my adult life I've never seen/owned a resin/plastic piece of furniture or furniture made with resin parts that didn't disappoint me greatly.

well i have some reservations but i found this same kit for 40.00 including free shipping so i ordered it and will decide when it gets here, if i dont think it's worthy of the CNC table I can use it for something less important, i'll let you know when it gets here

I found this tool chest that fits perfectly under the north end of my Meteor. Adds convenient accessory storage very close by.
