Cool Bed Upgrade!

Postby dc-woodworks » Fri Apr 08, 2016 8:07 pm

I was lucky enough to snag a nice 1" thick aluminum tooling plate slab on craigslist for only $1/pound! Then I used some aluminum extrusions to mount it. I'll be drilling and tapping the t-slot extrusions and spoil mdf next. Then, I'll surface mill the mdf and I'll be golden. I'm very excited with how it's turning out!

Looks good. Did you machine your aluminum using your machine?

Yes/No. I didn't surface mill the plate, nor put the mounting holes in it. As it was used from craigslist, I opted to use the holes it had. I did use the machine to drill the pilot holes that I will tap to hold down the track and mdf spoil stripes.
