Checking for square

Postby oldsinger » Sat Jan 14, 2017 2:32 pm

Is there a tip or technique to check to make sure my work piece is square to the machine?

I use a v-bit and scribe X and Y lines starting at 0,0.

When that isn't practical, like in the middle of the table, and assuming the work piece has one straight edge, I'll use a bit in the router (router off). Set the workpiece against the bit, then manually jog along the edge I want square, then push the other end against the bit. Double/triple check. Good in a pinch.

I've started using locating pins on a lot of things as well. Sure is nice.

Or are you talking about something else?
