GX Series CNC ROUTER
Configurable CNC Automation Platform for Prototyping, Fixtures, and Small-Shop Production
The PROBOTIX GX Series CNC Router is a configurable machine platform for shops that need more than a basic hobby router but do not need to jump straight into a full-sheet production machine. Built around the same core PROBOTIX philosophy that CNC routers are tools — PROBOTIX builds automation solutions, the GX Series is designed to help growing shops improve repeatability, reduce manual setup work, and build practical automation capability into everyday production.
Whether you are making signs, instruments, fixtures, prototypes, machine components, plastics parts, woodworking projects, or repeat production work, the GX platform gives you a practical path to configure the machine around your workflow instead of forcing your workflow around a fixed machine package.
One GX Platform, Multiple Machine Sizes
The GX Series now brings the family together into one configurable platform. Use the Builder tab to choose the machine size and options that fit your work:
- GX2550 Meteor: approximately 25" x 50" x 5" travel, ideal for long stock, neck-through guitar work, narrow parts, and shops that want long-axis capability without the footprint of a wider machine.
- GX3725 Asteroid: approximately 37" x 25" x 5" travel, a balanced midsize platform well suited for signs, guitars, plaques, fixtures, and general-purpose prototyping work.
- GX3750 Nebula: approximately 37" x 50" x 5" travel, the largest GX format for users who want more table area, larger nested work, rotary-axis flexibility, and greater part throughput.
That means the GX line is not just a menu of separate machines. It is a shared automation platform with size, spindle, control, and workflow options that can be matched to the work you actually do.
Built for Real Work, Not Just Demo Cuts
The GX Series is a high-performance, general-purpose CNC machine tool positioner suitable for a wide range of practical work including guitar building, signs, plaques, fixtures, prototypes, RC aircraft parts, woodworking, and light production tasks. The platform is designed to bridge the gap between light-duty router kits and larger industrial systems by giving small manufacturers and advanced users a machine that is capable, configurable, and ready to integrate into a broader workflow.
For many shops, the real buying decision is not just “which cnc router should I buy?” It is “how do I reduce manual labor, improve consistency, shorten setup time, and expand what I can produce in-house?” The GX platform is built for exactly that decision.
Why the GX Series Stands Out
- HD gantry architecture: The GX Series uses a heavier, higher-rigidity gantry structure for improved stiffness, better motion quality, and more confidence under real cutting loads.
- Open-frame tandem-motor design: Tandem-axis motion with LinuxCNC-based coordinated homing helps the machine square itself during homing while also reducing racking at the edges of the work area.
- Supported linear rails: The motion system uses supported round rails for smoother travel and less flex than light-duty unsupported systems.
- Precision ACME screw drive: ACME leadscrews provide dependable positioning, solid repeatability, and a practical serviceable drive system for this class of machine.
- Fully assembled and wired: The machine arrives as a real system, not a pile of half-finished subassemblies. Home switches, cable management, relay control, and machine integration are already handled.
- LinuxCNC-based control strategy: The GX platform is designed around open, capable control hardware and software so the machine can do more than play back simple hobby jobs.
- Builder-driven configuration: Spindle, control, hold-down, accessories, and machine-format choices can be configured in one place so the machine better matches your process.
Mechanical Features That Support Better Automation
The GX Series uses supported linear rails, anti-backlash nuts on all axes, rigid aluminum-and-steel construction, pre-installed home and limit switches, and professional cable-chain management. These are not just feature-list talking points. They are part of what makes the machine easier to run repeatedly, easier to fixture, easier to reference, and easier to keep productive over time.
Because the platform uses an open-frame design with T-slot-friendly construction, users can adapt the machine to fixtures, spoilboard strategies, indexing setups, rotary work, custom mounting systems, and workflow-specific hold-down arrangements without fighting a closed machine architecture.
The result is a machine platform that is not only capable of accurate cutting, but also useful as part of a broader manufacturing process — including repeat part production, fixture work, prototyping, and custom shop automation.
Open Control, Real Integration Flexibility
The GX Series has historically been built around LinuxCNC-based control systems because real control capability matters. Motion quality, homing behavior, spindle integration, future upgrades, accessory integration, and advanced workflow features all depend on the control layer being capable and adaptable.
That matters if your shop is moving beyond one-off parts and into repeatable workflow. A machine that can be integrated into your process is more valuable than one that is merely easy to demo.
Designed, Built, and Supported in the USA
The GX Series is designed, machined, built, and supported in the USA by PROBOTIX. This is not a relabeled import platform. Mechanical design, electrical integration, machine architecture, and long-term supportability are part of the product strategy, not afterthoughts.
That gives customers a more serviceable platform, better continuity of support, and a more realistic path for future upgrades, replacement parts, and workflow evolution.
Where the GX Series Fits
The GX Series is a strong fit for advanced hobby users, prototyping shops, small manufacturers, fixture builders, sign makers, guitar builders, and businesses that need a versatile CNC platform without stepping up to the footprint and cost of a full-sheet production machine.
In that sense, the GX Series is not just a set of router sizes. It is a configurable automation platform for real shop work — one that helps bridge the gap between manual fabrication and a more repeatable, scalable workflow.
